Monday Notes

posted Aug 15, 2016, 5:00 AM by Micah Mobley

One full week down, and we look like we will be moving forward with the group we have established now, after adding a few more pieces last week.  As we start to settle in a bit, we would do well to keep a few things in mind.

  1. All folks who are currently working need to start turning in the pay stubs this week.  Those who are not working yet, should be getting something this week, or we will start making part of your school day a work finding time.   ALL students will need to go over the outline with Mr. Mobley today, covering the requirements for the job and the single-session eligibility.  There will be a Google Classroom set up for this purpose, which will have a copy of the outline and requirements for you to have access to.
  2. We are going to EPS on Wednesday.  Remember that we meet at the front office no later than 8:00.  We also need to be dressed to impress on these days.
  3. We may start seeing some credits coming into view by the end of this week, which is exciting.  There will be some shuffling of schedules we will need to do once you start wrapping up those first credits and start settling into your work/school schedules.

Monday Notes

It was a good start to the week for our group, as we now get to jump right into the coursework.  Last week, the first couple of days were getting our feet wet, learning some new things and really just getting geared up.  Today, we got to the grind!

Congratulations to Graci, who is our Dojo points leader for the day.  Still a long way to go this year, but certainly getting started like that is better than a sharp stick in the eye! :)

Remember that on Wednesdays we actually still start at 8AM.  (We are not subject to the delay start that the rest of the students are on)
This first Wednesday we will be meeting here at the Edge at 8.
Next Wednesday (the 17th) we will meet at Edgewood Primary School, in the main office.

Prep for tomorrow

posted Aug 19, 2015, 6:18 AM by Micah Mobley

Wednesday will usually be our EPS day.  Before we begin that though, we need to go up to the school tomorrow (Thursday).  We will be meeting with Mr. Pittsford and Mrs. Whitaker.  It is unlikely that we will be able to meet with teachers at this point, but we will go through some of the rules and procedures for the time we spend up there.  Dress should be professional, like you are going to an interview.

Girls: Tops covered (no cleavage, no shoulders), skirts etc. need to be knee length or longer.   Tights/leggins are only permitted with a skirt that meets their requirement.

Guys: Pants up, shirts should have a collar and should be tucked in.  Belt should match shoes.

ALL students:  Khakis or simple slacks are fine.  Polo style shirts are fine.

REMEMBER: NO jeans, no holes in clothes, no smoke.

If you do not have stuff that is appropriate, that is not a problem, but you need to let one of us know that you need some help getting good interview outfits together and we will get you set up.

Announcement about announcements

posted Aug 11, 2015, 5:43 AM by Micah Mobley

All students should get the announcements sent to their school email as well as their personal email address.  One of the things that we need to be doing is preparing for life after high school.  One of those professional things that need to be done is to get accustomed to communicating via email.

All students should also be on the Class Dojo.  Parents can also access the info and see how things are going on a daily basis.

All of this can be done through the Useful Links page of this site.

As a Reminder, our seniors are eligible to go on the Holiday World trip with all seniors from the high school.

The Trip is May 15th, and the Cost is $30.

ALL MONEY DUE BY MAY 1st.  Money should go to the high school.

Final Grading Period reminders

posted Apr 6, 2015, 8:56 AM by Micah Mobley

Remember that we still have quite a bit of stuff to take care of these last weeks.

  • If you are working for ICE credits, you must  have all documentation, meet the hours requirement, AND end up with evaluation forms that rate you above 80% or higher. Do the quantity of hours, but be the best employee you can be.  Develop a good habit now, and ensure yourself that you have the credits.
  • We've been through this a time or two...we know that when you wait to do something later, the stress increases when later arrives.  Get it all done soon.  Do not wait until the last minute.
  • If you have not hit your credit requirement for the year or for the quarter, summer school may be discussed as a requirement for re-enrollment.  There is really no good reason for anyone to be earning less than three or four credits in a full term, and 7 or 8 in a semester.

ISU Field Trip Thursday

Our final whole group college visit of the semester is here.  We have already checked out Ivy Tech and Vincennes University.  This Thursday (March 12) we will be going over to Terre Haute to visit the Indiana State University campus.  All students who wish to participate must return the provided permission slip.  There is a copy attached to this announcement in case one got lost on the way home.

Thank you to the parents who either came into the Edge or otherwise completed the FAFSA with our students.  We want to see our students graduate, and then have options as to what they want to do after high school.  Though college is not something that everyone needs to do right away, it is good to have explored it as an option, even if they decide to go a different route when the time comes.
